Bhairav is ancient Raag  Previously Komal Re and Pa was restricted .It is masculine Raag .Tansen called it , the beginning raag.

This is Serious natured Raag .Its different types are Ahir Bhairav, Anand Bhairav,Vairagi Bhairav. Due to it is morning Raag it has some devotional sentiments, so many devotis created devotional songs in this raag.Its is called as Maayamaalvagol in Carnatic music.
